Description des fonctions

Applications should be received before June 30, 2021 to be considered.

The Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke (http://www.usherbrooke.ca/dep-microbiologie/) invites applications for multiple tenure-track Faculty positions at the rank of assistant and associate professor in microbiology.

We seek microbiologists with expertise in bacteriology, microbial genomics or RNA biology or related field with interest in bacterial pathogens, drug resistance, molecular epidemiology, host-pathogen interactions, and the transcriptomics and genomics of microbiome. Candidates must hold a PhD and/or MD degree and at least two years of postdoctoral training with excellent publication record.

The successful candidate will join 18 clinical and fundamental microbiologists at the department of microbiology, as well as 10 RNA biologists in Sherbrooke RNA group. Being located on the health campus, next to the university hospital and clinical research center, our research environment is ideal to conduct projects involving clinical samples and patients. Our researchers have access to multiple technological platforms in RNomics, sequencing, digital PCR, mass spectrometry, microscopy and imaging, as well as state-of-the-art animal facilities. The Université de Sherbrooke also has built a critical mass of expertise in RNA biology (small RNAs, telomerase, splicing) and cancer (colorectal, breast and ovarian), leading to the development of a dynamic academic and technical infrastructure (e.g. RiboClub, www.riboclub.org, a RNomics platform, https://rnomics.med.usherbrooke.ca, and a Cancer research axis, http://cr.chus.qc.ca/axes/cancer/). Candidates whose research program involves pathogens will have access to a state-of-the-art BSL-3 facility to be built in a new research pavilion dedicated to personalized medicine and translational research. The successful applicant will be given generous startup funds and offered a mentoring program to connect them to both local, national and international resources. Possibilities of creating collaborations across the faculty and university also exist since research projects in bacteriology and virology are also conducted in the Department of Biochemistry (https://www.usherbrooke.ca/dep-biochimie/) and Biology (Faculty of Sciences, https://www.usherbrooke.ca/biologie/).
