Job Description

A Platform MANAGEMENT position is available at The University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada to lead operations at FINDER, a Containment Level 3 (CL3) facility dedicated to research on Risk Group 3 pathogens including SARS-CoV-2 and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The Manager’s responsibilities include: administering the Platform, managing staff, developing and enforcing security protocols, training users, supporting research projects and partnerships, and ensuring excellent stakeholder communications. FINDER is a shared research platform of the portfolio of the Vice-President Research & Innovation. The Manager will report administratively to the VPRI Office and receive scientific direction from FINDER’s Scientific Advisor. The manager will supervise up to four full-time technicians and is expected to work with considerable latitude. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work under CL3 conditions. Ideal candidates will have a post-graduate degree or equivalent professional designation in a relevant discipline such as Microbiology, Virology, or a related biomedical field, and at least three years working experience in a CL3 laboratory. Animal husbandry experience is highly preferred.
