Job Description

Applications are invited for two full-time tenure track appointments at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels commencing April 1, 2013 or as soon thereafter as possible. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or D.M.D./D.D.S. with post­doctoral training and evidence of published research in cell biology-related areas including but not limited to neuroimmunology, craniofacial developmental biology, oral microbiology, or inflammation/immunology. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. For a clinically qualified individual, the candidate must be eligible for licensure with the Manitoba Dental Association. The Department of Oral Biology (http://umanitoba.ca/dentistry/staff/dent_OB.html) is multidisciplinary and provides basic science teaching to dental and dental hygiene students and graduate students and carries out research in behavioural neurosciences, biochemistry, proteomics, taste receptors, cell and molecular biology, physiology, oral-systemic health and microbiology. The applicant must be able to effectively communicate and will be required to teach related courses to dental and dental hygiene students, and participate in Faculty courses at the graduate level. Previous teaching experience will be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally-funded research program to complement ongoing research in the department. Opportunities exist for collaboration with clinical/basic science departments on the Health Sciences campus.
